ID:QZP40_273369_087aDESCRIPTION:John Clerk of Eldin produced a series of etchings in the early 1770s which included this view of Inverness Castle. It is known that the castle was a ruin at that time and so Clerk must have copied this from an existing drawing.
The drawing is taken from 'Old Inverness' by Pierre Delavault (1903).PLACENAME:InvernessOLD COUNTY/PARISH:INVERNESS: Inverness and BonaCREATOR (AV):John ClerkDATE OF IMAGE:1773PERIOD:1770sSOURCE:Highland LibrariesCOLLECTION:Old Inverness by Pierre Delavault (1903)Asset ID:31803KEYWORDS:
