ID:HCD00204DESCRIPTION:The driveway leading to Balmacara House on the shores of Loch Alsh. Sir Hugh Innes had the house built as his residence in the early 1800s when he bought the Balmacara estate. After World War I the estate was sold to Sir Daniel and Lady Margaret Hamilton, both great benefactors to the area. In 1947, after Lady Margaret's death, the estate - then extending to 8,770 acres - was given to The National Trust for Scotland
