ID:HC_PLANNING_02_026_0748DESCRIPTION:Dunlichity Parish Church is siuated at Dunlichity, Farr, some 12 kilometres south of Inverness at grid reference NH 65976 32969. It is a place steeped in history. The site has been a place of Christian worship since the 7th century. The present church was built in 1759 but includes parts built in 1569. There are marks on the walls where Jacobite soldiers sharpened their swords before the battle of Culloden The graveyard contains the graves of Clan Chattan and Clan MacGillivray. The church and graveyard are B-listed. Included in the listing is a watch tower (not in picture) built early 19th century in a corner of the graveyard to protect against grave robbers in the times of Burke and Hare. The last Church of Scotland service was held there in 2019.
