ID:PC_HRS_STATIONS_001_240DESCRIPTION:Broomhill Station between Boat of Garten and Grantown-on-Spey, looking towards Boat of Garten.
Broomhill was opened by the Inverness & Perth Junction Railway on 3 August 1863 and closed to passengers on 18 October 1965 and to goods on 25 January 1965. The track was later removed and all the buildings demolished. The station had a small wooden building and wooden goods shed. Some trains stopped only on request; the signal was used to indicate that passengers were waiting.
The line from Boat of Garten to Broomhill was rebuilt by the Strathspey Railway and reopened in 1997 on the same site, complete with a replica station building and signal. Steam trains run during the summer months from Aviemore to Boat of Garten. The station has been used as 'Glenbogle' in the BBC series "Monarch of the Glen".PLACENAME:BroomhillDISTRICT:BadenochOLD COUNTY/PARISH:INVERNESS: Duthil and RothiemurchusCREATOR (AV):A G EllisDATE OF IMAGE:10 August 1951PERIOD:1950sSOURCE:Highland Railway SocietyCOLLECTION:Highland Railway Society - StationsAsset ID:26958KEYWORDS:
