ID:PC_HRS_STATIONS_001_1114DESCRIPTION:The former goods shed at Nairn in August 1995.
Nairn station was opened in 1855 as the eastern terminus of the Inverness and Nairn Railway (I&NR) which connected those two towns. In 1861 the I&NR became part of the Inverness and Aberdeen Junction Railway which in turn was one of the companies which merged to form the Highland Railway in 1865. It is still served by regular passenger services although it was closed to goods traffic in August 1983. The goods shed has been dismantled and can now be seen at Bridge of Dun station on the preserved Caledonian Railway.PLACENAME:NairnOLD COUNTY/PARISH:NAIRN: NairnDATE OF IMAGE:August 1995PERIOD:1990sSOURCE:Highland Railway SocietyCOLLECTION:Highland Railway Society - StationsAsset ID:27789KEYWORDS:
