ID:PC_HRS_STATIONS_001_1165DESCRIPTION:A view of Orbliston Station building and platforms looking north. It was taken in June 1960. The rear of a train, probably a special hauled by GNSR 49, can be seen.
Fochabers High Station was opened by the Inverness and Aberdeen Junction Railway (I&AJR) on 18 August 1858. The I&AJR in turn was one of the companies which merged to form the Highland Railway in 1865. The station was renamed Orbliston Junction in October 1893 when it became the junction for the Fochabers Branch line. The word 'Junction' was removed in September 1960. It closed to goods traffic in April 1964 and to passenger services in December of the same year.PLACENAME:OrblistonDISTRICT:FochabersOLD COUNTY/PARISH:MORAYSHIREDATE OF IMAGE:14 June 1960PERIOD:1960sSOURCE:Highland Railway SocietyCOLLECTION:Highland Railway Society - StationsAsset ID:27821KEYWORDS:
