It was a member of the LMS's 3P-B class, designed by Sir William Stanier. It was built at Crewe in 1937 and was withdrawn from service in December 1962. 5014, was a Class 5 locomotive. It was built at Crewe in 1935 and was withdrawn in June 1967. The Class 5 locomotives were also designed by Stanier. Commonly known as 'Black Fives', 842 were built between 1934 and 1951.
