ID:PC_PRISCUS_WCS6405DESCRIPTION:This photograph was taken by Scottish photographer George Washington Wilson (1823-93) and was used to illustrate talks he gave on Highland history. The following description is taken from Washington Wilson's own lecture notes.
For her share in the Prince's escape she was imprisoned a short time, and, on being released, was married to Allan Macdonald of Kingsburgh, in whose house the Prince slept for a few hours. The latter part of her life she spent quietly in Skye, where she died in 1790; and at her special request, the sheets used by the Prince during his short repose at Kingsburgh, did service as her winding sheet - they never having been put to any other meaner offices, but had been carefully wrapped up by the lady of the house since that memorable night.PLACENAME:South UistDISTRICT:South UistOLD COUNTY/PARISH:INVERNESS: South UistCREATOR (AV):George Washington WilsonPERIOD:1880s (c.)SOURCE:Mark Butterworth - PriscusCOLLECTION:Imaging the PastAsset ID:29637KEYWORDS:
