ID: PC_PWG_POSTCARDS_007A DESCRIPTION: Quinag from Kyle Strome (Kylestrome) Pier, near Scourie, West Sutherlandshire. Quinag is one of the great mountain massifs of the Assynt area. It has three distinctive ridges forming a 'y' shaped range with the peaks of Sail Ghardh (808m), Sail Gorm (776m), and Spidean Coinich (764m). The eastern peaks are capped by a thin layer of Cambrian quartzite while the range itself consists of Torridonian sandstone, resting on Lewisian gneiss. The area is therefore an excellent place to appreciate the geology of the western Highlands. The dramatic scenery also makes it a popular destination for hill walkers PLACENAME: Kylestrome OLD COUNTY/PARISH: SUTHERLAND PERIOD: 1940s SOURCE: PFW Grant Asset ID: 29666 KEYWORDS:
