ID: PC_WD_WS_030 DESCRIPTION: Sailors on HMS Franklin fishing for depth charges off Cherbourg during World War II. The depth charge was a waterproof weapon used by ships or aircraft to attack submerged submarines. HMS Franklin was a minesweeper of the Halcyon class which surveyed the harbours of north-west Europe after the Normandy landings.
