ID: QZP40_467_P375 DESCRIPTION: Donald Matheson was educated at Edinburgh High School and went on to do mission work in London and Edinburgh. He inherited the Achany Estate, near Lairg in Sutherland, from his aunt, the widow of Sir James Matheson, in 1896. Sir James Matheson, Donald Matheson's uncle, was Member of Parliament for Ross and Cromarty. He made a large fortune in Asia with the trading company Jardine Matheson.
