ID:QZP40_1438_P184DESCRIPTION:In the 18th century snuff taking was extremely common in Scotland. Scotsmen began to use the horn of a cow or ram to hold their snuff. The end was originally closed with a leather plug. When a hinged lid was invented it was made with a cork plug.
This type of snuff holder was known as a snuff mull.
