ID:QZP40_2471_VOLXII_P275DESCRIPTION:This hand reel was found at Corpach in Kilmallie. Yarn was wound on to the hand reel a certain number of turns and was then wound off onto winnles or windle-blades which were two pieces of wood fastened together in the shape of a St Andrew's cross.
Rhymes were often chanted by the women winding the yarn to keep the number of turns correct.
