ID:QZP40_3289_P308DESCRIPTION:Dunbar's Hospital was built in 1668 and was given to Inverness by Provost Alexander Dunbar. It is said to be constructed using stone from the dismantled Cromwell's Citadel.
The building had several uses in its time. It was the Grammar School until the opening of the Royal Academy in 1792. It was a 3-storey building and at one time there was a Female School and Female Work Society upstairs while fire engines were kept downstairs. During the cholera epidemic of 1849 part of the building was again used as a hospital.
