ID:QZP40_CARD_0270DESCRIPTION:Carr Bridge, crossing the River Dulnain. Very little of the old bridge remains apart from this arch ring. The bridge parapets were washed away during the floods of 1829, leaving the bridge as we see it today.
When the bridge was built in 1717 by John Niccelsone from Ballindalloch, it was two metres wide. It was built originally as a funeral bridge to reach the burial ground at the Church at Duthil.PLACENAME:CarrbridgeDISTRICT:BadenochOLD COUNTY/PARISH:INVERNESS: Duthil and RothiemurchusPERIOD:1910s; 1920sSOURCE:Highland LibrariesCOLLECTION:Highland Libraries' Postcard CollectionAsset ID:32172KEYWORDS:
