ID:QZP40_CARD_0498DESCRIPTION:At the far end of the beach is the old burial ground. Nearby is a hollow known as Leabaidh-na-Ba-Baine - the bed of the white cow. It is a nearly perfect, natural, oval depression but tradition has it that it was created by Fingal as a bed where his cow could calve. It could hold up to two thousand people and was used for Church services and by visiting preachers.
To the left, above the shore, is the Free Church and behind it the Gairloch Hotel.PLACENAME:GairlochOLD COUNTY/PARISH:ROSSPERIOD:1930s; 1940sSOURCE:Highland LibrariesCOLLECTION:Highland Libraries' Postcard CollectionAsset ID:32425KEYWORDS:
