ID:QZP40_CARD_0914DESCRIPTION:Loch Maree in Wester Ross.The fresh water loch is twelve miles long and extends from Kinlochewe to near Poolewe. Most of the loch is only about half a mile wide. It broadens into about a mile in places and has several small islands.
Loch Maree is thought to have taken its name from the Irish saint Maelrubha who founded a monastery at nearby Applecross.
