Glen Shiel is extremely popular with tourists being part of the traditional Road to the Isles and home to several high mountain peaks. In north Glen Shiel the peaks known as The Five Sisters can be found while to the south sit mountains rising over 3000ft including Creag nan Damh, Sgurr an Lochain, Sgurr na Sgine and The Saddle.
On the 10th June 1719, The Battle of Glen Shiel took place in this glen between an alliance of Jacobite Highlanders and Spaniards against British Government troops.
