ID:QZP40_CARD_1931DESCRIPTION:This postcard contains a painting of the Salmon Pool at the River Shin, Sutherland. A lady can be seen fishing while a man, possibly her husband, waits nearby with a net to secure any catch.
The River Shin flows the seven miles from Loch Shin into the Dornoch Firth. Its salmon reserves have been affected by the construction of a hydroelectric dam, but it still remains a popular destination amongst anglers. Tourists also visit the region to see the Falls of Shin, and if they are fortunate, the salmon jumping.PLACENAME:River ShinOLD COUNTY/PARISH:SUTHERLANDSOURCE:Highland LibrariesCOLLECTION:Highland Libraries - Illustrated postcardsAsset ID:33846KEYWORDS:
