Nestling in a Cradle of Majestic Mountains, Loch Coruisk, Skye
ID:QZP40_CARD_2316DESCRIPTION:This is a classic view of the Cuillin ridge on Skye taken from the shores of Loch Coruisk. The Cuillin are often referred to as the crowning glory of British mountains, and if that is the case, then Coruisk must surely by the jewel in the crown. Tourists have been making their way to this remote spot since the early 19th century, encouraged by the writing of Sir Walter Scott and John MacCulloch who both visited in 1814, and later by the work of artists such as William Daniell and J.M.W. Turner. The dramatic setting, difficulty of access and a landscape ranging from sea level to mountain top, ensures a continuing appeal.
