Loch Scavaig, Skye

Loch Scavaig, Skye

ID: QZP40_CARD_2321 DESCRIPTION: Although the title reads Loch Scavaig, the loch pictured here is Loch na Cuilce, the inner waters of Loch Scavaig, with Eilean Glas, the little island in the centre. Loch Coruisk is just visible in the behind, with the Cuillins rising dramatically all around. From the loch, River Scavaig, which surely must be one of the shortest rivers anywhere, runs the 400m over the smooth rounded rocks into Loch na Cuilce. For years a visit to Loch Coruisk has been a must for travellers, and for those who don't want to walk there, a boat trip from Elgol cuts the effort and time required, and makes the journey a very pleasant outing. The boat docks just to the left of the river, so in a matter of minutes one is on the shores of Coruisk PLACENAME: Loch Scavaig OLD COUNTY/PARISH: INVERNESS CREATOR (AV): J Valentine & Co.
