ID:QZP40_CARD_2345DDESCRIPTION:The Sligachan Hotel has been a popular base for visitors since Victorian times, with walkers and climbers in particular finding the location at the foot of the Cuillin ideal. Sgurr nan Gillean, at 964m (3165ft), is one of the most distinctive peaks in the Cuillin range and a challenging ascent. It was considered unclimbable until 1836 when James Forbes, a geologist and physicist, pioneered a route along with a local guide.
