Culloden Cottage, Culloden Moor

ID: QZP40_CARD_2712 DESCRIPTION: The old Leanach Cottage on Culloden Moor near Inverness. It is said to date from the time of the Battle of Culloden in 1746. Tradition has it that after the battle, thirty Jacobites took refuge in one of its outbuildings. They were discovered by Government troops who locked them in and set fire to the building, burning them alive. The cottage was inhabited until 1912.
