ID:QZP40_CARD_2979DESCRIPTION:This postcard depicts a snowy scene in Glen Nevis, a picturesque glen in Lochaber which runs south from Fort William below the southern face of Ben Nevis, the highest mountain in the British Isles. Some scenes from the film 'Braveheart' were filmed in this glen.
Glen Nevis has long associations with Clan Cameron who were staunch supporters of the Stuarts. During the 1745 Jacobite Rebellion, Prince Charlie's supporters' headquarters were at Glen Nevis House. It was from there that the attacks on the English soldiers at Fort William were planned.PLACENAME:Glen NevisOLD COUNTY/PARISH:INVERNESSSOURCE:Highland LibrariesCOLLECTION:Highland Libraries' Postcard CollectionAsset ID:34862KEYWORDS:
