ID:QZP40_CARD_6001DESCRIPTION:A view through the main street of Bonar Bridge, a small town on the northern bank of the Kyle of Sutherland, looking towards the east. The first bridge, after which the town was named, was completed in 1812, under the supervision of the famed engineer Thomas Telford. The current bridge is the third to cross the Kyle.
There has been evidence uncovered in the town's surroundings that the region has been inhabited since prehistoric times. A small herge and a crannog were excavated near Loch Migdale.PLACENAME:Bonar BridgeDISTRICT:Dornoch and CreichOLD COUNTY/PARISH:SUTHERLAND: CreichSOURCE:Highland LibrariesCOLLECTION:Highland Libraries' Postcard CollectionAsset ID:37635KEYWORDS:
