Thatched house, Laggan Bridge

ID: QZP99_94052_02_12 DESCRIPTION: A dilapidated thatched cottage at Laggan Bridge. This house is of a type that emerged in the eighteenth century. It can be recognised by its square ends, triangular gables and especially by the chimney flues in the gable ends. The cottage in this image is thatched, but houses of this type often had slate roofs. This image comes from a collection gifted to Edinburgh Central Library by Dr Isabel F. Grant. The collection includes photographs taken by a number of different photographers.
