ID:QZP99_94052_09_04DESCRIPTION:Three barefoot children outside houses at Kentangaval on the island of Barra. Kentangaval is a small township near Castlebay. The houses had dry stone walls and a thatched roof. There was no chimney in the roof. This allowed peat smoke to penetrate the thatch, which was used as fertilizer when the house was re-thatched.
