ID: QZP99_94157_04_10 DESCRIPTION: Fionnphort is situated on the end of the Ross of Mull and is the ferry port for Iona and Staffa. There is a ferry service between Fionnphort and Iona. Today the village has around 70 inhabitants, not including those in the outlying hamlets. Nearby is Tormore Quarry, which produced red granite building blocks unique to the Ross of Mull. The blocks were very hard wearing and were used in several lighthouses and other building works, including Blackfriars Bridge and the Albert Memorial in London This image comes from a collection gifted to Edinburgh Central Library by Dr Isabel F. Grant. The collection includes photographs taken by a number of different photographers.
