ID:QZP99_94157_07_11DESCRIPTION:This house was photographed on the shores of Iona, a small island off the west tip of Mull. It is only three miles long and a mile and half wide. It is a low-lying island with white sandy beaches. The highest point on the island is Dun I at approximately 100m or 328ft.
Iona is famous as the landing place of St Columba when he left Ireland in 563 AD. He established a religious community on the island and the wooden monastery they built was later replaced with a stone building. The monastery was left to ruin after the Reformation but has since been restored and is used by the Iona Community as a place of pilgrimage and worship.
