ID:QZP99_97107_03_06DESCRIPTION:Loch Caroy (Gaelic: Red rock) is in the Northwest of the island of Skye, approximately halfway between Bracadale and Dunvegan. This photograph shows a cottage at the head of the loch with southerly views to Loch Bracadale. Near this cottage are the ruined remains of the church of St John the Baptist which was consecrated in 1838 and used until the mid-20th century. The Churchyard is still in use for burials.
In March 2002 the Loch Caroy was designated a protected water by the Scottish Executive in order to protect the shellfish and flora and fauna which depend on the water environment.
