Kylesku is a small settlement in north-west Sutherland, where Loch Glencoul and Loch Glendhu join to flow through Loch a' Chairn into Eddrachillis Bay. Nearby is Britain's highest waterfall, Eas Coul Aulin, which is about 650ft, four times higher than Niagara Falls. The Kylesku narrows were crossed by a ferry from around 1800 until a bridge was built in 1984. In the 1940s a flotilla of 'X-Craft' and 'Chariot' miniature submarines trained in the waters around Kylesku.
