Palace Hotel, Grantown-on-Spey

Palace Hotel, Grantown-on-Spey

ID: PAN1_6 DESCRIPTION: Situated on the south-east side of the High Street, the Palace Hotel was built in the late 19th century after the railway reached Grantown in 1863 and stimulated the arrival of Victorian tourists. It had 70 bedrooms with hot and cold water, and a grand spacious garden to the rear. Today (2022) the building is no longer a hotel but, apart from the removal of the entrance portico, looks much the same. The Claymore bar is in the north end of the building and the adjacent building is still occupied by shops.
